The Whole Case
Why it's built this way, how matching works without faces, the lines we won't cross — and what's live today.
Not More People — Readable Ones
Every product in this space answers the same way: here are more people. That has never been the shortage. The shortage is being able to tell, of the people already in front of you, who is actually who — and the one surface everything is sorted by, a face, carries almost none of that information. Worse, it carries a cost: in a photo-first market the pressure to keep "fixing" your appearance falls hardest on women, and seeing more options makes people reject more rather than choose better. So we took the photo out of the sorting entirely. The engine never sees a face — and neither does the other person, until the two of you open it together.
Measure What Actually Matters
Sixteen types are a weak predictor of how a relationship goes — the psychometric literature is fairly settled on that, and we don't pretend otherwise. So the type is your language, not your score. Matching actually weighs four things: values and life goals heaviest, then your traits — how you carry yourself day to day (your Andaz) — then attachment — how you move close and how you pull away — then family, how involved your people stay. The rest of the journey — your villain era, and kashish if you opt in — is for you, not the algorithm: real self-understanding, just not dimensions the matching score currently reads. And the weights aren't fixed forever — they're retrained as we learn what actually holds a couple together. Twenty questions per layer, kashish's eight the only exception. All of it is for you first; matching comes after.
A Number That Doesn't Lie
The score is computed in both directions — how well you fit them, and they fit you — then the two are multiplied, so a one-sided fit can never rank high. Anything you marked non-negotiable takes the score to zero if it clashes. And until you've both done the layers, the number says out loud how much it is still guessing. Most products round that uncertainty away because a confident number converts better; we show it, because the alternative is lying to someone about a person. The engine cannot promise love — it can only tell you where things will be easy and where they'll take work.
And when two people have both done that work — what happens then?
Matching, without faces
"How do you match without photos?" is the question everyone asks. So here is the whole mechanism, laid out rung by rung.
You see a character, not a face.
Discovery cards carry archetype art. The block sits in the database, not the app — the photo column is excluded from the view your phone is served, so it never leaves the server before a reveal.
The engine measures fit, not looks.
Values and life goals carry the heaviest weight. Then traits (your Andaz), then attachment, then family — matches are built only on these four. What's left is your villain era, and opt-in kashish if you want it — neither counts toward the score; they're there so you understand yourself. Anything you marked non-negotiable: if it clashes, the score goes straight to zero. We didn't invent these categories — attachment comes from the Bowlby–Fraley tradition, and the Karney–Bradbury meta-analysis backs the weight values and goals carry.
A number that admits what it doesn't know.
Early on only one or two of the four weighted layers — values, traits, attachment, family — are done, so the score says so: "still a blurry picture." As the rest of the weighted layers fill in, it sharpens. We would rather show you an honest 62 than a confident lie.
You talk first — and you open together.
Chat brings prompts you both answer, sealed. Neither of you sees the other's answer until both have written — no peeking, no copying. Six of those, and the next door unlocks.
Pehli Jhalak — the photo, on both your terms.
The window opens only when you both choose it — either of you can start that choice, and either can pause it too. Then you each record one line: "what did you like most about them?" — a voice note from both sides. Then both photos unseal in the same second, on the same screen, next to those lines.
And if it isn't it — it ends kindly.
Closing a chat after the reveal means picking a parting line. Quietly disappearing isn't a button here.
What discovery shows — no photo exists here
The Open Flame
Now everything this isn't.
What KaunHoTum is not
Not astrology
No birth chart, no zodiac, no numerology. Only your answers and the dimensions research actually supports.
Not a matrimonial site
We never ask for caste — we don't store it, filter on it, or infer it. Religion is optional and never counts toward matching. No biodata, no families sitting across a table.
Not a swipe app
No endless deck, no likes counter, no ranking of people. Women get three chosen people a week — not a hundred.
Not a timepass quiz
80 questions, real scoring — values, traits, attachment, and family are weighted; the weights keep learning. This is not "which samosa are you".
Not a promise of love
The engine tells you where things will be easy and where they'll take work. No algorithm can predict love, and we won't pretend otherwise.
Not a lie detector
We never score anyone's honesty. The structure helps you make your own judgement — that's all it does.
And the things we'll never break.
The lines we won't cross
Understanding yourself stays free
All 5 layers, all the results, free forever. This isn't bait that gets locked later — it is the actual thing.
A photo is never part of matching
Not in ranking, not in deciding who you get shown. Not ever.
We never paywall a conversation in progress
If money is ever charged, it's only for meeting new people. A conversation already underway stays open, always.
No manufactured urgency
No fake countdowns, no invented scarcity. When we say new people are arriving, real new people are arriving.
You leaving is our win
When someone finds their person, they leave — and that was the point. Our income does not depend on keeping anyone here.
One question left — why cinema at all?
Stories We All Know
Understanding yourself is hard — but it gets easier when the truth arrives in the language of a character who feels instantly familiar. "Your attachment style is anxious" doesn't land with anyone. "You're that one" lands with everyone. Cinema is the language we all share; that's why this app is built in it.
And we want people to go back to the films that shaped this work — to watch them again, with new eyes. All 45 are credited, unconditionally, on the Films page. This isn't against the studios, it's with them — a road that sends audiences back to the cinema.
